Your costs

What you spend to make, pack and send one order.

Cost of goods sold: materials, production or the wholesale price for one unit. For print-on-demand, use the base price your supplier charges. Include labor if you pay yourself per item.
$

Materials or wholesale cost for one unit.

What you pay the carrier for the label. If you buy discounted labels through Etsy or Shopify, use that price.
$

What you pay for the postage label.

Add up everything that goes into one shipment. A pack of 100 mailers for $25 is $0.25 each; add tape, tissue, stickers and thank-you cards the same way.
$

Boxes, mailers, tape, labels and inserts.

Divide your ad spend by the items it sold. For example, $60 on ads that led to 30 sales is $2.00 per item. Leave Etsy Offsite Ads out of this; enter that fee in the Etsy fees section.
$

Total ad spend ÷ items sold.

Etsy fees

Standard US rates are filled in. Change them to match your fee statement.

Etsy charges $0.20 to publish a listing. When an item sells and the listing renews for more stock, you pay it again, so count it on every sale.
$

Charged each time the listing renews.

Etsy takes 6.5% of the order total: the item price plus the shipping, gift wrap and personalization you charge.
%

Applied to item price plus shipping.

In the US, Etsy Payments charges 3% + $0.25 per order. The UK rate is 4% + £0.20, and other countries differ. Etsy also charges this on sales tax it collects, which this calculator leaves out.
%

Percentage part of the Etsy Payments fee.

$

Flat amount added to each order.

When a sale comes from Etsy's ads on other websites, Etsy charges 15%, or 12% if your shop made over $10,000 in the past 12 months. It's capped at $100 per order. Leave it off for regular sales.
%

Only for sales that came from Etsy's offsite ads.

Net profit per sale

Etsy

$0.00

0% profit margin Net profit divided by the total the buyer pays (item price plus shipping). This calculator flags under 15% as thin and 30% or more as strong.

    Etsy fees in 2026

US Etsy sellers pay three fees on almost every sale, plus a fourth if the order came through Etsy's Offsite Ads.

    FeeRateCharged on
Listing fee$0.20Each listing, and each renewal after a sale
Transaction fee6.5%Item price plus shipping, gift wrap and personalization

Offsite Ads15%, or 12% for shops over $10,000 a yearOnly orders from Etsy's offsite ads, capped at $100 per order

Etsy also charges a 2.5% currency conversion fee when your listings are priced in a different currency from your payment account, and sellers in some countries pay a regulatory operating fee. Etsy fees explained covers each one in detail.

Worked example: a $35 item with $5 shipping

These are the numbers the calculator starts with. The buyer pays $40 in total.

    LineAmount
    Listing fee$0.20
    Transaction fee (6.5% of $40)$2.60
    Payment processing (3% of $40 + $0.25)$1.45
    Total Etsy fees$4.25
Item cost, label, packaging and ads$16.70
    Net profit$19.05 (47.6% margin)

Etsy's fees take about 10.6% of this order. On cheaper items the fixed $0.45 matters more: on an $8 order, fees come to $1.21, or 15.1% of the sale.

How Offsite Ads change your profit

If the same $40 order came from an Offsite Ad at 15%, Etsy would charge another $6.00 and net profit would fall to $13.05, a 32.6% margin. You can't tell in advance which orders will come through Offsite Ads, so if your shop has to take part, check that your prices still work with the fee switched on. Use the Off, 15% and 12% buttons in the calculator to compare.

Ways to lower your Etsy fees

    • Raise very low prices or sell in sets. The $0.45 in fixed fees costs the same on a $5 sticker as on a $50 print, so a three-pack keeps more per item.
    • Price shipping accurately. Fees apply to the shipping you charge, so padding shipping doesn't hide extra profit from Etsy.
    • Match your currencies. Pricing listings in the same currency as your payment account avoids the 2.5% conversion fee.
    • Track ad spend per sale. Etsy Ads can pay off, but only when the cost per sale leaves room for profit. Enter it in the advertising field.

    Etsy fee calculator FAQ

How much does Etsy take from a $100 sale?

With no shipping charge, a US seller pays $9.95: a $0.20 listing fee, a $6.50 transaction fee and a $3.25 payment processing fee. That's before any Offsite Ads fee.

Does Etsy charge the transaction fee on sales tax?

In the US, no. Etsy collects and pays sales tax for you in most states, and the 6.5% transaction fee isn't charged on it. The payment processing fee is worked out on the full amount the buyer pays, which can include tax.

Do I pay the $0.20 listing fee on every sale?

If a listing has more than one item in stock, Etsy renews it automatically after each sale and charges $0.20 again. A single-item listing doesn't renew unless you renew it, but for most shops it's simplest to count $0.20 per sale.

Can I opt out of Etsy Offsite Ads?

Shops that made less than $10,000 in the past 12 months can opt out in their shop settings. Shops above that level have to take part and pay the reduced 12% rate.

Is the Etsy payment processing fee the same in every country?

No. US sellers pay 3% + $0.25 and UK sellers 4% + £0.20, and other countries have their own rates. Enter your country's rate in the processing fields.
